What are the requirements to be able to stay in the Kingdom for 6-8 months a year? I am shortly marrying my long term Thai girlfriend and hope to eventually retire but finances will probably mean I have to work the uk for 4-6 moths a year. I have a condo and have bought land for my girlfriend and her daughter that hopefully will have a house built over the next few years. Any guidance would be welcome tia

TLDR : Answer Summary
To stay in Thailand for 6-8 months a year, consider applying for the METV (Multiple Entry Tourist Visa), which allows for up to 9 months stay with some border crossings. This option could work well while you continue working in the UK for several months each year. Engaging with resources about the METV, including user experiences and additional advice, can be beneficial.

I suggest you start with the METV multiple entry tourist visa..with planning it will give you up to 9 months stay in Thailand...

With a couple simple land border crossing border bounce back into Thailand.

That will give you the time you say you need to be in Thailand...

Good Luck 🤞

you may choose to get Married before you leave Thailand to return to work..

Then return next time on a Non O Visa as Married to Thai.

Gives youa 90 day stamp on arrival plus one 60 be day family visit extension is available at Thai immigration office for 1900 Thai baht.

Other options include the one year extension of stay as Married to Thai...
