Do I need a Non Immigrant (O-A) visa as the father of a Thai child. Thats the only option the Embassy website is giving me.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question pertains to whether a Non Immigrant (O-A) visa is necessary for a father of a Thai child, with the embassy indicating that it is the only option available. Responses highlight that the O-A visa is specifically for individuals over 50 and not for those with a Thai family. Instead, the father might be eligible for a Non-O visa, which may require contact with the specific consulate for clarification, especially if there are issues with accessing visa options on the embassy's website.

I wouldn't recommend it, it will show your IP address to be outside of Thailand and it may reject the connection

and
@Benj****
it's tied to his log in not where he is in the world. AND it's tied to a previous choice or pending application in the system. there was a bunch of stuff written about this online program by Ron Angel (sadly not a member any more(

Something is definitely Wrong as I logged into the system and was able to choose from PILE of choices

You need to contact the consulate of the country you will be applying for the visa in, AND a Non-immigrant type O-A visa is for people who are over 50, NOT for people with thai family. You want to get a Non-O visa <- no A after the O.

You will NOT get a long term stay extension in thailand based on having a thai child out of wedlock because when children are born to an unmarried mother 100% of the parental rights is hers NOT the father. Even with your name on the birth certificate and the baby holding a passport from your country, you have no parental rights until you go thru family court and get it granted legally.

You MIGHT <- as in maybe be able to get a 90 day single entry Non-O visa based on having a thai child with just your name on the birth certificate BUT that is totally consulate specific. AND at this time you don't buy the visa first, you apply for permission to enter the country (apply for a Certificate to Enter) and only AFTER you're approved will they let you buy the visa.

Good Luck, contact the consulate where you'll be applying.

First off let's start with your age, your nationality, whether you're married to the child's mother, AND what country you're in where you'd be applying for a thai visa.

42 from the UK. Not married but my names on the birth certificate. Will be applying through London Embassy. Their website is only giving me the option to apply for a non immigrant (O-A)

@Barry ******
you picked the wrong choice when you started, you are not getting a visa for a stay longer than 90 days :O You can only get a 90 day single entry Non-O from them

@Barry ******
