TLDR : Answer Summary
The post seeks clarification on the type of map needed for a visa office in Thailand, with community feedback indicating that the requirement typically entails a hand-drawn map showing the route from the immigration office to the individual's residence. Though some offices may accept Google Map prints, there is inconsistency across different immigration offices regarding their acceptance, with some clearly preferring hand-drawn maps.

Check your local immigration office. Some accept both handwritten and/or google map. Some only accept handwritten map. Some others accept only google map.

This post is not for poll for which office accept which map.

It depends on your Immigration office. I sketched a rough bird's eye view of our house and the main numbered roads around us, and some major towns nearby. I also included our GPS location, and that worked for Udon Thani!

A hand drawn map from immigration to where you live.

I gave them a 20 page map to my home in Wales. They did not see the funny side. Anyway, we always joke about it now.

Phuket used to insist on hand drawn. Last time they said Google would be OK, but insisted it show longitude/latitude.

I live over 1 hour from my IO.

They accepted a hand drawn map from the main road to my house.

You need to ask them exactly what they want.

Hand drawn from office to apt,

Hand drawn from main road to apt,

Google maps

My first year I was dead chuffed with an intricate Google Map print out showing the main road & squiggly little sois to the house. I then printed the directions in English then got a friend to translate into Thai for me.

Proudly presented it at Udon Immo & they took one look & said no good must draw by hand 🤨.

They gave me a piece of paper & a pencil so I drew a line & wrote Immo at one end & house at the other. Apparently that was fine 🙄

Depends on which immigration office you use. I printed Google maps at two different scales, including long and lat info and major street names. Deemed not good enough, and was asked to hand draw the map. Essentially this was a curved line to the thick line (main road) and the words sea, hills and local village xyz. Regardless, a week later, they had to phone for directions to my house, after they couldn't find it for the home visit

can't use Google Maps on their phone 🤷 They'd rather trust someone with absolutely no drawing skills or sense of scale, to draw a map on a piece of paper... did they want it coloured in too 🤷🤣🤣🤣

I submit a map from the nearest BTS to my house. Sometimes they accept a Google maps image , sometimes they don't...so I'd try to get a map that isn't from Google maps just incase

It's a map from the immigration office to your house. Usually they require a hand-drawn map, but some offices will accept a printed map Google Maps.

... not required the full map from house to IO. All they require is a map with your house inc. all the roads and known landmarks so they can identify where your house is. My map goes 5km out from my house and the IO is 10 km away.

It really doesn't make logical sense not to use Google maps but hey ... TiT where logic and sense doesn't come into the equation! 😬🤷‍♂️

now thats overkill asking for both hahahaha.....when I was in Nonthaburi they required a hand-drawn map, since 2021 in Hua Hin a print out from Google Maps suffices

in Phuket for my Non-B we had to provide a hand drawn map of the residence not from the immigration office, so maybe it’s Province dependant

exactly as I said? Just depends on the office - the OP will need to check with the relevant IO before submitting documents.

no you said it was from the immigration office. I’m saying in Phuket it wasn’t from the immigration office just a hand drawn map of your own house/condo main road

Which is why I said maybe it’s province dependant
