What steps should my Chinese girlfriend take to re-apply for a DTV visa after repeated rejections?

Hi, my DTV visa was approved in HCMC on first try. Quite surprised as I am in my early 20s (M) but I’d say I really wrote a 10/10 cover letter communicating my work and future plans very well. I applied under the soft power category.

My girlfriend is a Chinese citizen (29F) and she got rejected twice in HCMC and Hanoi. Her application is quite strong with a strong stock portfolio and real estate in China besides the 500k baht requirement. She also had recurring income. Both of us used the same Muay Thai school but only she got rejected.

Desperately looking for any advice on what our next steps should be? What embassy should she re-apply from as a Chinese citizen? Also, open to chat with any lawyers if you have recommendations.

How long did you keep the 500k for yourself to get approved?

over 3 months, over 500k baht

Is the 500K baht in an investment account? Only money in a savings account is accepted.

Its in a personal savings account, so that should not be a problem

Did you send 3 months of proof of funds?

Allways best to apply in the homecountry, where the Embassy will know how the documents can be expected to be formated.

Nothing lost in “translation” that way.

Yeah in hindsight I feel the same. Just thought sharing anything in regards with her or my application can potentially cause trouble.

Anonymous participant in all fairness mate there’s nothing about your post that needed to be anonymous and if privacy is a concern and you still use Facebook and chrome (guilty as charged) you could always use an alias. Like first and middle name.

Seems like they want less and less Chinese and Indian people to apply for some reason

Totally understandable for indians haha, I am an indian passport holder myself but got accepted. I have heard some stories for chinese citizens as well, hoping there is some way

Anonymous participant hey man as an Indian, where did you apply from?

Seems like Chinese citizens are getting rejected or asked for interview.

Check past posts. Someone applied with Jakarta- was rejected the first time and the 2nd time provided extra explanation for something, was asked for an interview, and was accepted

Makes sense, I will read through other posts (not many have posted about Chinese citizens tho). How long do you recommend waiting before applying again?
Lynda ******
Anonymous participant sorry, I wish I knew.

I suggest reaching out to a few agents and seeing what they say. They may know the system better and/or can share other clients’ experiences

I’m sure you can share your situation and ask directly how long to wait to reapply. Can also inquire about pricing. Some offer a refund if you get rejected- at least from what I saw in the posts

Yes, I have been on it since the afternoon haha. Is there a specific agency/lawyer you recommend? I have reached out to Siam legal and a couple others mentioned on here.

She should be showing funding in a personal bank account, nothing to do with stocks investments blah blah blah

As I mentioned, all additional proof of funds was shown besides the primary bank statement with 500k+ baht maintained over 3 months.

Anonymous participant The point is that the stock/investment portfolios are not acceptable proof, so there’s no point in submitting it.

That makes sense, we just submitted it because HCMC embassy asked for additional documents including how does she plan to sustain herself for 5 years.

Wait 60-90 days then try Jakarta. Emphasize the recurring income.

Stocks are fairy dust until sold.

Can she apply in mainland China? That might be better for her but I honestly don’t know.

Oh is that the standard? How long do typically wait before applying again? Yes, she considered China but people have negative opinion about it as Thai embassy in China is overwhelmed by applications
John *********
I don’t know if it’s standard. An agent told a friend wait 60-90 after a rejection.
