TLDR : Answer Summary
To cancel your education visa (ED visa) in Thailand, you need a cancellation letter from your university. You can cancel your visa on the day you stop your education. Importantly, once you cancel, you cannot apply for a new extension based on waiting for a smart visa application; instead, you may receive a stamp indicating that you must leave within seven days. If you need to wait for your smart visa processing, it is advisable to enter Thailand again using a tourist visa.

You cancel your Extension of Stay based on education on the day your education stops.

You do not get a new Extension of Stay based on waiting for application of a smart visa, you must meet one of the regular requirements of get the not approved stamp and 7 days to leave the country, You may come back with a tourist visa to sit out the waiting time.

Okay, change of plans as this is not going to work.

Your new Smart Visa is already approved, so why do you ask Facebook in stead of the BOI who approved the visa to change your status,

IF you go to Immigration and apply for a new Extension and get the stamp NOT APPROVED, the only thing left is leave the country in 7 days,

You can not use that final decision to pack your bags and leave for conversion into any new visa without actually doing as told by leaving the Kingdom.

my smart visa is already approved.

My master degree still has 2 years left hence my education has not stop and i have I have all documents to extend my Ed visa again as i was not sure if the Smart visa would be approved (got the green light yesterdays). Just trying to my sure i don't mess up the transition.

So if i understandable correctly I go to chanwatana with the relevant paper work to cancel my Ed extension of stay then get 7 days to "leave the country" and with in those 7 days I'll scadual my appointment at the smart visa office to receive my new visa

Ok so in that case I would need to cancel my visa at chanwatana and then go to Chamchuri Square in the same day i assume right

you can cancel your visa about a week ahead of time. Have the school write a letter saying something about ending the visa (normally would say ending studies but it sounds like that doesn't apply to you) on a specific date, then you would go to CW office and future date your cancellation then go to Chomchuri as soon as possible to get that process started.

Robert isn’t saying you just “get 7 days”. You get nothing. You apply for, and pay for, another extension of some kind. If it is rejected, then you have to leave within 7 days.
