TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking recommendations for agencies in Phuket that can assist with obtaining a retirement visa, having already met the necessary requirements. Multiple comments suggest that it may be straightforward and can be done independently at the local Immigration Office, although some warn about the challenges of applying from a visitor status. A discussion also reveals the complexities of obtaining visas from Australia, specifically mentioning that there is a Thai consulate in Perth.

I know there are agency's in Pattaya that will do it , I applied / obtained mine in London a few years ago , but met many people who got it sorted here , I don't know the ins and outs but cost about £500 Sterling ...

Nothing is easier here.

Not correct, I need a residency certificate, which is proving difficult to obtain...

. Hoops? This is probably the easiest thing you can get. Just turn up, show your national driving license, pay the fee and off you go with a Thai driving license.

So true! the hoops I have to jump through just to get a driving license is just crazy...

If you meet all the requirements it is a straight forward procedure, do it yourself at Immigration Office.

He can apply for an Extension of Stay based on Retirement.

Not from a tourist visa. You need to get the O visa first. It's possible but not easy.

Have you considered getting a Non O-A visa from Australia?

I got visas in Brisbane

@Cookie *******
, it is a consulate, not an embassy. Visas have to go thru the embassy in Canberra, unless they operate under different rules than the consulate in Brisbane
Cookie ********
Not sure who told you that, but there is an embassy in Perth.

to get any visa in Australia means a trip (or mail, slow and unreliable in Aust) to Canberra. From Perth, this is about a 4 hour plane ride to Sydney or Melbourne, then a connecting flight to Canberra. Then at least $200 a night in a hotel in Canberra. It is not that easy in Australia
