Good afternoon. I need clarification on three points. I arrived in Thailand tourist visa changed to Non-B then to Non-BE My current employment contract finishes January 14 2022. First, is it possible to change this extension to 'retirement' within Thailand or must I depart and return. Second, when I cancel the visa can I apply for a seven day extension to finalize my leaving preparation. Three, travel to Australia (home country) is still up in the air. If I travel to another country how long must I stay there to validate the requirements for a Thai Cert of Entry under present conditions. Regards, John.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about changing their work visa (Non-B) to a retirement visa without leaving Thailand, the possibility of applying for a seven-day extension when canceling their visa, and the implications of traveling to another country regarding the Thai Certificate of Entry. The response highlights that it's possible to change the extension within Thailand with proper documentation from the employer and that a cancellation of the visa allows for a potential seven-day extension for departure preparation. Additionally, the user is advised on the travel requirements related to returning to Thailand.

You do NOT have to leave and come back so I will avoid answering any of those questions ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

If you're on an extension of stay based on employment, you would get documentation from your employer stating you stop work on xxx date, go to the immigration office before that date, cancel your current extension, and immediately apply for a new yearly extension of stay for 1900baht by meeting the requirements for the retirement extension.

as I will be changing the reason for extension from employment to retirement for the first time is it necessary to transfer the money from my home country or can I use my local funds.

@John ******
nope because you are not getting an in country Non-O visa but just changing the reason for your extension you only require the seasoning not proof the funds came from abroad

@John ******
there is no 3 month rule anymore and hasn't been since the end of 2018,

It is 2 months before and 3 months after you apply for your next extension now
