I’m planning to apply for the Thailand DTV visa in February, and my current plan is to travel to Vietnam and submit the application from there.
I’m Hungarian, currently in Thailand, and can stay abroad for up to a month if needed. I have the required financial proof, work history, and documents prepared. What I’m mainly looking for is real experience from anyone who has:
Applied for DTV from Vietnam
Dealt with Thai embassies/consulates there
Run into unexpected issues, delays, or things they wish they’d known before applying
If you’ve done a similar route, I’d really appreciate any practical tips, embassy recommendations, or things to avoid.
Thanks in advance to anyone willing to share firsthand experience. 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is looking for advice on applying for the Thailand DTV visa while in Vietnam. They have the necessary documents and financial proofs but seek insights from others who have applied from Vietnam regarding their experiences with the Thai embassy, potential delays, and practical recommendations. A commenter notes that applying in February might face delays due to the Tet holiday, suggesting the user checks the embassy's holiday schedule and refers to a Facebook group for more tips.
Vietnam is a good choice to apply for the DTV. Note Feb there is a long National holiday - Tet. Approvals will be delayed while the embassy is closed. You should check the embassy site for the days of closure. Check the main DTV group on FB there are 100s of posts from Vietnam applicants, giving tips.
