Hey there,

I’m applying for my DTV soon and will be leaving for Hanoi in a couple of days. I had a few questions before I go and was hoping to get some help here, as I’m a bit nervous about the process:

1. Is it okay to apply online just two days before traveling to Hanoi?

2. Has anyone recently done this in Hanoi? If so, how long did the process usually take?

3. Do they require you to visit the embassy there, and should I be prepared for that?

Thank you in advance for your help!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on applying for a Thai DTV visa while traveling to Hanoi, posing questions about the timing of the online application, the need to visit the embassy, and the impact of upcoming holidays on processing times. Responses indicate that it's not advisable to apply before arriving in Vietnam due to the requirement of an entry stamp and highlight potential delays during the Thai New Year holidays.

You can't apply while on Thai soil. If they find out you did (which they might or might not find out) your application would be rejected, without refunds.

You can fill in as much of the online application form as possible before you get there, it will save your application up to 14 days before automatically deleting it, and then once you get to Vietnam you can double check your data, upload your proof of location info, submit and pay. With the upcoming Songkran holiday you might want to delay your trip a week.

You can not apply until after you arrived in country, as you will need to upload your Vietnam entry stamp. Furthermore, next week is the Thai New Year. Embassies will closed and when open, have skeleton crew. You might end up having to wait longer because of that.

There are many Embassy Holidays next week, meaning that even if you apply , it will take more days.

You do know the Embassy will be closed Monday and Tuesday next week for Songkran and maybe even Wednesday too in lieu of Sunday 13th?
