My wife was supposed to do her 90 day report earlier this month in Chiang Mai. The website was down so she was going to wait 6 or 7 days after the due date to do it in person. Then Covid got worse so she didn't go. She knows there is a 2,000 baht fine for being late and hopes they will waive that because she was trying to do the right thing and avoid crowded places. She really doesn't want to go now because Covid isn't getting better.
If she waits does the penalty increase (other than the 5,000 fine if she is arrested)? Or does anyone have a better idea?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The wife missed her 90-day reporting deadline in Chiang Mai due to the website being down and concerns about COVID-19. Community members confirmed that the fine for being late is a flat rate of 2,000 baht and does not increase over time, regardless of how late the report is submitted. They suggested options like mail-in reporting, drive-thru services, or simply visiting in person to settle the fine.

No disrespect intended but, it wasn't the "right thing to do", the 90 day report was due, she did not do it and now she's more than 7 days late.
Chiang mai allows mail in 90 day reporting as long as it's post marked 14 days before the due date, SO that was an option as was going to either the drive thru (without getting out of the car) or going to the Promenada Mall.
At this point i's a cut and dried 2000baht fine for failure to file a 90 day report on time.
Just go when ever you're gonna go. The fine is 2000baht whether you're 8 days late or 8 months late.
