Hi, my friend was supposed to notify her address to ChiangMai Immigration on 3/9/18. She is in Bangkok but she can notify it on Wednesday 12/9/18. Is this okay, or will she have to pay a fine? Thank you. Gordon.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires whether their friend, who is late in notifying Chiang Mai Immigration of her address change, will face any fines due to the delay. Comments indicate that although the notification is late (12/9/18 instead of 3/9/18), fines are generally assessed at a flat rate of 2,000 THB for failing to file the 90-day report on time. The timeline allows reporting 15 days before and 7 days after the due date, so her report would be considered late, resulting in a fine.

Before the discussion grows into details of writing down money, is it meters or yards or foot, I will close the commenting.

Can never understand the US way of writing dates, it's like putting Cents before Dollars.

In Uk, that means 9th March Walter. Depends on what country you are from I guess.

That is the reason he also made a picture of the date stamp. 3 Sep 2018, to avoid confusion.

There are two total different things. Overstay your Visa or Extension of Stay, meaning you stay longer in Thailand than you allowed to be by the Admitted until date in your passport. For people who are allowed to stay in Thailand longer than 90 days, they have to do the so called 90 day report: I'm 90 days in Thailand and I still live on this address. If you do not make this report the fine is 2.000 Thb.

Thank you Robert.

Fine for being late is 2.000 Thb, does not matter if you 1 day or 1 year late.

The 90 days report can be done 15 days before and up to 7 days after the due date. So the 12th is gonna be too late.

Brian Hass the 800 baht fine is usually for failing to file a TM.30 form within the 24 hours of arriving here at the immigration office. The 2000baht fine is the failure to file a 90 day report within the time allowed for it. (15 days before or 7 days after)

Can do ;) It was just my two cents. It does happen, but dont count on it! Maybe Buengkan being such a small, and relatively new, provinse is different than most. Been coming there for years, and know a lot of the faces, and they (most of them anyway) know both me and my father.

Filing a TM.30 (alien in residence) form within 24 hours after you hit the country and get back home is nothing to do with failing to file a 90 day report within the window of opportunity.

How about we run under the premise that not everyone will have as "cozy" of relationship with an immigration office as you do up in Bueng Kan province :O

Let's stick to the facts and what the files for failure to file a 90 day report on time are. It's 2000baht whether your 8 days late or 8 months late :O

You do a 90 day report at the immigration office where you get your extension. You can't do it out of area

/18. I am guessing that this won’t count for anything?

I have.. Also for the 24 hours after entering Thailand.. It depends on the officers and your relation with them. I cant speak for others, that's just my personal experience.

You don't get warned at any immigration office I'm aware of for failure to file a 90 day report on time

I personally have a good rapport with several of the IO in Buengkan.. They will accept small errors with a smile.. To show my gratitude I occasionally bring a bag of fruits for them when I go there ;)
