Hello. Can you please help. Need some advice. My sister's friend is in Bangkok now on a 30 day visa exemption from Australia. She has already had it extended for additional 30 days for tourism. She was supposed to fly back home 5 days ago (last day of her extended visa exempt) but has been sick with severe diarra or food poisoning for 5 days and could not fly or even leave the room to go to the immagration office. She is well enough now to go out again and plans to go to immagration office tomorrow. She has not yet booked another flight back home. What should she expect given that as of tomorrow she would have overstayed for a total of 6 days? Is it likely she will just pay the fine and then get a 7 day stamp to give her time to book a new flight and do pcr test requirement etc to go home?
Thanks.
TLDR : Answer Summary
A traveler from Australia in Bangkok on a 30-day visa exemption has overstayed by six days due to illness. She plans to visit the immigration office for advice. According to responses, she can expect a fine of 500 THB for each day overstayed, leading to a total fine of 3000 THB. While the immigration officer may or may not grant her an extension based on her circumstances, there's a possibility she could receive a 7-day extension to arrange her departure.
