Good afternoon !

Asking for some advise for a "non social media" buddy.

BACKGROUND

Visa OA Multi Entry| Issued Canberra Australia | Valid 27 Dec 2018 through 26 Dec 2019 | Entered Thailand 28 Jan 2019 and stamped in to 27 Jan 2020

QUESTIONS

If she leaves Thailand and re-enters before 26 Dec 2019 will she be stamped in for a year?

Is there any difference between re-entering via land or air border?

If she does get stamped in for another year (eg re-enters Thailand on 20 Dec 2019 and gets stamped in to 19 Dec 2020) and she then leaves Thailand in March 2020 and wants to re-enter the same month, will she need a re-entry permit to keep her stay valid to 20 Dec 2020 or does that exit and re-entry mean she has to re-enter on visa exempt for 30 days only and effectively invalidate the stamp until 19 Dec 2010.

Thanks guys - look forward to hearing from you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about the processes and regulations associated with the Visa OA Multi Entry, specifically regarding re-entry into Thailand before its expiration date. Key points include that re-entering before the visa's valid until date allows for another year of stay, regardless of the entry method (land or air). A re-entry permit is necessary to maintain the validity of the entry stamp if there is a departure after the visa expires. Additionally, there are concerns regarding health insurance requirements that may affect the entry.

Now, to address the "elephant in the room" :O (the need to have health insurance on an O-A visa since Oct 31st) there is no way to tell if she will or won't be asked to show proof of meeting the health insurance requirements. It's so hit or miss right now, because the rule only came into effect less than a month ago.

There is a HIGH probability that she will NOT be asked about it because she got her O-A visa prior to the 31st of Oct this year, AND she's just utilizing a new entry on that existing visa. BUT there's just no way to really know..

I am in the same boat in January, hoping to get my second year stamp. Although, I will be entering from KL into Don Mueang airport. Have we had any reports of problems at that airport please?

- The visa is unlimited entry during the validity of the VISA itself. Meaning if her visa has an "enter before" or "valid until" date of 26 Dec 2019 she can enter as many times as she wants right up until 11:59PM on the 26th of Dec and she will be stamped in for a whole new year.

- No difference at all bouncing out and back by land or air, the visa works the same way.

- She WILL need a re-entry permit to keep her last entry stamp "alive" should she want to leave come back after the visa expires (after Dec 26th) OR she will lose the year entry stamp.

She can get almost two years of stay out of that visa IF she bounces out and back in just before the VISA itself expires to get the second year entry stamp AND she buys a re-entry permit in case she's going to leave come back during that second year stamp after the visa expired.
