Hi, I’m a bit confused and have read some conflicting information. I had my passport stolen and I am on dtv based in Thailand. Will it be ok to order a new passport and just leave and enter again to get dtv stamp again or transfer it at immigration? Has anyone been through similar or know anything about the process? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
If your passport is stolen while you're on a DTV visa in Thailand, you should first report the theft to the police. Next, consult your country's embassy to understand the requirements for obtaining a new passport. Once you have the new passport, visit the immigration office with all relevant documents, including the police report and proof of your DTV visa, to request a new visa stamp. It's advisable to keep copies of your old passport and visa documents accessible for reference. You could also choose to leave the country and re-enter with the new passport to obtain a new stamp.
You need a police report, order new passport, print out DTV, go to immigration and explain, also it would help if you have the flight ticket stub you entered with.
If they allow transfer of visa to new passport there should be no fee. If British, for example, there is no paperwork with a new passport from VFS who handle passports these days.
Have a search through group posts. There has been someone posted in the same situation ie stolen passport rather than expired where the holder has both old and new passports. Find out the exact process you need to follow.
I think it was a French guy who had his passport stolen in France. He got a replacement passport but they wouldn't stamp him in with his DTV. There was no follow up, but would be interesting to see what happened.
I would ask your local immigration office what the procedure is for this. I would think you will need a police report for the stolen passport and a printout of your DTV visa. If your visa was actually in the passport, not an e-visa, do you have any proof you had it, email from the embassy, receipt, photo?
In any case, it’s not just a matter of going out and back in as the visa is linked to your (stolen) passport number
Don’t have to, didn’t get my passport stolen… and if you have nothing actually useful to add to the conversation, why don’t you mosey on out of here 👋🏼
Immigration has record of your stamp when you come in you can get a certificate for emergency travel due to lost passport but I would wait for your passport - once you get your passport goto immigration with your dtv letter and they will have record of your recent stamp - this is also why its a good idea to keep a photo copy of your visa and current stamp on yoir email or a storage app like google drive or drop box so you can access your passport on any device. You can choose to leave and come back with your new passport if you want but once you get a new book immigration will have record of it and you can just get the same stamp in new book choice is yours
