What should I do if my DTV visa application was cancelled due to nationality errors?

DTV - UAE Experience so far

Hey everybody,

Thought I would share my fresh from the press experience here for the DTV application. I applied 3 days ago from the UAE and yesterday I got an email saying my visa was cancelled because I “entered the wrong nationality. Should not be United Arab Emirates” But I 100% entered it correctly (Austria) - see screenshot.

Now they’re asking me to reapply again, obviously running through a new payment of 400 USD.

I also checked the place of issuance, which for me was Dublin as my Austrian Embassy in Dublin has processed my passport.

Super confused as to how to proceed from here...

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user shared their experience with the Thai DTV visa application process after it was canceled due to a reported nationality error, despite entering the correct information. The post details confusion around the nationality field and the required documentation when applying from the UAE. Several comments offer clarifications on possible pitfalls regarding nationality and passport country designation, and suggest checking the application details or going directly to the embassy for resolution.

This is not the first and last time. It happened to my friend who submitted his application from Vietnam. They cancelled not even mentioning what was the issue and he literally walked to the embassy to ask and they told him he filled his nationality as Vietnam but there is not a chance in any way that actually happen when he filled it. It seems that either the system is somehow malfunctioning or the Thais are using this way to generate more yield from applications

Are they using VFS to process the applications, if so then try another location ?

Two different things: For place of passport issued, should put your country, not the country where the embassy is located. However, it is not clear if that is the issue here, since they specifically referenced UAE and not Dublin Ireland. I believe, but could be wrong, that there might be two locations where you enter your nationality, once when you create your account on the e-visa website and then in the actual DTV application. If so, it is possible that the screenshot here is pulling from your account information while you mistakenly wrote UAE on the application.

Have you renewed your passport in Dubai by any chance and when they ask place if issue of your passport you entered UAE by nay chance?

i think they want exactly what wrote in passport issued country.

Anonymous participant 268 that is very unlikely because in my passport lists the authority, not the place of issuance. It says: issued by “the mayor of city x”. I entered: ‘city x in country y’, because nowhere they would accept ‘mayor’ as a place of issuance. If they only want the country they can stick it up there. I will not pay an additional fee for this bs. Lets see!

well, in my passport under authority there's ministry of interior. I mailed the embassy and they told me to write down exactly what is on the passport (and that makes sense since it's the only document they have). I wrote down ministry of interior and got my Dr approved

yea could be but they asked for location, not authority. Thats why they cannot reject if i entrer the location and not the authority. As simple aa that.

Country / territory of passport is not the same as nationality.

You chose the right nationality but wrong country of passport.

Did you supply one or other of these required documents to allow you to apply via that consulate?

Valid UAE Residence Visa (for those working, studying, or as a family member of a UAE citizen) or

Valid UAE’s Resident Identity card (Emirates ID)
