What are the steps and tips for obtaining a DTV spouse visa from the Thai Embassy?
Big thanks to this group for all the advice and insights! I just got my DTV spouse visa today from the Thai Embassy in Jakarta, so I wanted to share my experience here:
19/5 – Applied (my husband had already received his DTV from the Thai Embassy in Paris)
28/5 – Received an email requesting additional documents:
* All passport pages
* Legalised marriage certificate
They asked me to get the marriage certificate legalised by the Thai Embassy in the issuing country (we got married in Singapore). Since it wasn’t feasible for me to fly back to Singapore before our intended travel date, I attached an explanation letter together with our marriage certificate that had already been apostilled by MFA Singapore.
4/6 – Visa approved 🎉
It honestly wasn’t the smoothest journey because my original travel date was supposed to be today (4/6), and I had to reschedule my flight while waiting for approval. There were also quite a few public holidays in both Thailand and Indonesia during the processing period.
I also called them on 2/6, but unfortunately the lady I spoke to was not very helpful. But in the end, the most important thing is that I finally got the visa!

PRINT OUT THE EMAIL THAT HAS YOUR DTV VISA.
That's what you should do... print it out.
You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight ✈️ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff. Or to the land border crossing entry Thai Immigration Officer.
Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.
