Hello everyone I had a few questions about applying for a dtv visa. First is I have a few over stays during 2022-2024 they were never more then 2 days maybe 3 at the most but usually 1 day. All of them were due to it being a weekend or holiday. I never got denied extensions because of them, but still I have a record of 3-4 over stays each 1-3 days tops. My second question is how soft power works? I see schools longest courses are for 9 months - 1 year long. Will my visa still be valid for 5 years? I would like to know everyone’s experiences with the soft power visas, and if possible what schools they attended and what there schedules were like. I’m also very interested into people who applied after Aug 31st during the stricter changes. Please and thank you everyone. Also please feel free to dm me
Answer summary
The post discusses concerns about applying for a DTV visa in Thailand, specifically related to previous overstays of 1-3 days. The author also seeks clarification on the validity of the DTV visa given the duration of courses at schools and requests experiences from others, especially those who applied after recent changes. Several community members respond, emphasizing that minor overstays are generally not problematic and that the DTV visa maintains a validity of 5 years regardless of course duration. Recommendations for contacting appropriate resources for assistance with the application process are provided.

You will have to go to your home country and apply from there. In case you get the visa, If you keep attending to the courses during the 5 years, and holding 500k in your bank, you don’t need to worry about being questioned by the Immigration. Overstays might be an issue, there are flights during weekends and holidays also, so I shouldn’t use that as an excuse

Hi! Expats Thailand could be a good contact for your situation. They work with DTV-eligible schools (Muay Thai, Thai cooking) and a trusted, licensed visa partner who can review your profile, including your overstay history, under the new rules. Going through them gets you a better rate on their partner's service fee, and their partner refunds the service fee if your application isn't approved after their pre-check (T&Cs apply). Contact:

The overstays don't matter, despite what the doom merchants here say.

Nobody knows how the visa will evolve in the future, if it even does. But the workcation appears to be more secure than trying to stay 5 yrs based off a 9 months course. I guess it depends how many people they find abusing the system as to whether then add more requirements.

No problem with the overstays. All DTVs are valid for 5 years regardless how you applied
