What are the experiences and options for applying for a Thai visa through the Frankfurt Embassy?

Hello!

I have a couple of questions regarding the choice of Embassy/Consulate.

1. I applied in Frankfurt/Germany and got a request for addiitional documents four days after I initially applied. Since I submitted the documents, it's been almost three weeks without any update. Has anyone else here gone through Frankfurt in recent weeks/months? What are your experiences?

2. I thought I have to go through Frankfurt, because it's close to where I live, and they are responsible for handling request from people in my region. Since there is a lot of discussion in this forum about choosing a different embassy/consulate for applying, I would love to understand the way this would work. Are you guys then travelling to the place of that specific consulate and stay there until the decision on the DTV has been made? Thanks in advance!

A few others have posted on delays in Frankfurt with approvals taking around a month. You can apply anywhere that does not have specific residency requirements which is the majority worldwide. SE Asia is popular due to its proximity to Thailand and 'friendly' process. Some, like myself chose Taiwan as it was same day approval. Most likely you will hear soon from Frankfurt..

Contact the social media sites of the embassy as well to inform them of your situation. That has worked with similar cases as yours with other embassies. Hopefully you hear soon.

Thank you, Andi. I appreciate your answer. To follow up: if I need to apply again and would choose another location to apply from, it means I would have to physically travel there and stay in that place for the duration of the application process, correct?

Anonymous participantYeah wait until approved where you apply. If you leave early your DTV can be rescinded upon arrival in Bangkok or a later date. Contact the SM sites of Frankfurt embassy also to make contact
