TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is confused about their visa status after applying for a COVID extension on March 26. They received an email from the US government suggesting that they may not be covered by the extension. Comments indicate that the user should convert their Under Consideration stamp to a permitted stay to ensure coverage by the amnesty, depending on the stamp's issued date.
You need to go in and get your Under Consideration stamp converted to "permitted to stay until". If they give you that stamp with a date that is after 26-Mar, then you will be covered by the amnesty.
It's visa exempt, voa, lost passports etc and not TV. I went yesterday. Took them about 30 minutes to give me my valid stamp from my under consideration. More workers than customers. The workers were mostly chatting and eating while slowly crawling through the bureaucratic process. Was surprising that it took 30 minutes when there were at most 7 of us there to be processed. At least, that is done.
I am not sure but my advice is if not to far away go in and see them to make sure I feel better now I have permitted to stay stamp because I know I am definitely covered. I would hate anyone to get over stay fine because of a technicality
I thought that with the for consideration I was okay in the present amnesty until April 30. But now with their email, it seems I don’t actually have anything valid
