What should I do if my contracting company doesn't provide official documents for my visa application in Thailand?

The company I've been exclusively contracting for the past five years doesn't use/have a letterhead, they're also not very responsive to getting the business registration document either. It's a Japanese company - my boss is willing to sign a letter but without the letterhead it looks so unofficial.

Any advice? Is my 'employment' document looking a bit weak? I don't have payslips either. I have contracts, invoices, and receive a monthly bank transfer.

The ironic thing is I've never even lived in Japan and have been working remotely the entire time already. The idea of asking for permission to do something I've already been doing for half a decade is kind of crazy.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is facing challenges in obtaining official documentation from a Japanese company they have been contracting with remotely for five years. The company does not provide a letterhead, and the user lacks payslips, only having contracts, invoices, and bank transfers to show employment. Comments from others suggest that it's acceptable to submit what documents are available, and creative solutions like creating a self-made letter or using alternate proof like highlighted bank statements can be effective. The situation highlights common issues faced by expats working with foreign companies.

I was approved in Indonesia recently with just a simple letter.

Slap their logo on it. Write their address.

Do they have a company stamp like they have over here ? That works with Non B applications.

You sound more like a contractor than an employee. Go with that. So contracts, invoices, and highlighting payments on your bank statements

yeah, it’s true. I’m actually a contractor but just to the one company.

I had similar issues in my application working freelance for Japanese firms. There is no legal requirement for a Japanese firm to give business registration docs to a non-perm employee. I informed the embassy of this, and they told me it was ok to submit what I could. I managed to get a bus registration doc for one of the firms i work for. The other one i just provided website links. I submitted non letterhead letters with a wet signature. I also get no pay slips for one contract, the company wrote that in a letter and the dates/amount of my last 6 pay deposits. i highlighted the salary bank deposits on a bank statement. I applied in person, last Dec, Taipei,

Make your own letter

You're not really asking for permission, it's just that the Embassy needs to verify you can do it. How can they know otherwise?

At what Embassy would you apply? They might think the headerless letter is sus, specially if you're applying outside of Japan.

Yeah, I know it’s sus - I’m just not sure what I’m supposed to do. I’m currently living in Tbilisi, Georgia and therefore I need to apply to the one in Ankara.

I’ve provided my boss’s work email if they wanted to verify but I doubt they would do that.

Many small-mid size companies in Japan do not have English Letterheaded letters. Provide as much as you can to show you work for a legit company, website links, contracts,, tax return etc,,

and the Thai Embassy in Japan would know that, while other embassies won't know and most probably won't care.

true..it is much easier to apply outside of japan
