I'm a nigerian in the US with a green card. I haven't lived in Nigeria for like 17 years but I have a nigerian passport. When I try to apply for the thai tourist visa it says I need nigeria police clearance, which I can't get cause I dont live there. Tried emailing and calling the the thai embassy no one picked or answer. As anyone ever gone through this. I was thinking of submitting a US police clearance

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Nigerian national currently residing in the US faces challenges acquiring a police clearance from Nigeria for a Thai tourist visa due to long-term absence from Nigeria. Despite attempts to contact the Thai embassy, the individual has not received assistance. Comments suggest contacting the Nigerian embassy for help, the possibility of using a US police clearance, and concerns about the feasibility of travel considering potential re-entry issues into the US.

Why can't you get police clearance from Nigeria? You are a Nigerian citizen, and it makes no difference where you live. The more important question is, why haven't you gained US naturalisation after 17 years?

Always a nightmare for Nigerian passport holders, my wife has the same problems all the time. You need to speak to your Embassy in NY

In your case a police clearance from Nigeria seems quite irrelevant should be from US police. The Thai embassy must give clearance

If you can get a US clearance that will probably work. Not because it is US but because it is recent and valid. But they are within their rights to ask for a clearance from the country issuing your passport.

If you are really wanting to get out of the US, maybe other countries like Cambodia or Vietnam have looser requirements?

I used the Thai embassy in New York. And when I had a problem, I contacted them through Facebook, and they answered right away.

In your situation I wouldn’t even consider leaving the USA! There’s every chance they won’t let you back in.

You are traveling based on the passport of your country. Get the Nigerian Embassy for help

Here is the notice on the e-visa website, for everyone to see. It's at the top of this photo.

It quite specifically says Nigerian clearance with attestation from the MFA of Nigeria and the Thai Embassy in Abuja.

I think your only option is to get clarification from your Thai embassy or consulate in the US.

They are very busy right now with processing ballots for overseas Thais who are voting. You can continue trying to call or e-mail them, and you can even try sending them a message on Facebook. But they might be too busy to respond currently.
