Been having a nightmare my son works of shore and had an appointment at London embassy tomorrow, obviously he can’t go cos he is working on oil rig in Jakarta. So he gave me all his documents and asked me to ring and cancel his booking and rearrange it wat sounds quite simple , but no , no one answers phone managed to get threw once and was told he has to do it on line he has emailed but no one got back to him , he has already paid his £300 so he looks like he will loose it . That embassy so frustrating no one answers the phone was ring yesterday from 9 in morning🙄
Summary so far
The post discusses the challenges faced by a user whose son, working offshore, is unable to attend a visa appointment at the London Thai embassy. Despite attempts to contact the embassy to cancel and reschedule, the user faced frustration due to a lack of communication and online-only procedures. Comments suggest that the son cannot apply from abroad and may lose his application fee due to not meeting the embassy's requirements.

Part of the process is staying in the country you apply in. You are not supposed to leave so yes he will have his application cancelled and lose his money

Best to follow the rules if he reapplies

One of the reasons visa application are all online is so that no one has to answer the phone

Things have changed from the good/bad old days

Thais don't like work. They don't believe in simple. Everything is open to interpretation - it gives them more power.

He applied to the THAI Embassy - do you think they allow foreigners to work there? Fully staffed by privileged Thais.

Them days are over when you booked appointments and submitting passports etc..it's all done online nowadays..P.S., ensure his English is better than your's when applying or he will be subject to delays while it's processing!!

This person did not book an appointment. They applied and then were summoned for an interview. Not common but also not unusual for DTV applications.

What do you want to know? What kind of visa did he apply for?
Brandon ************

@Jeroboam ********
Doesn't really matter what visa he applied for since the requirements for any visa is that you are in the UK when you apply, and remain in the UK until the visa is issued. Since those terms have already been broken, the application is forfeit.

He cannot apply for a visa through the London if he is not inside the UK. The visa application has a very clear question about proving your PHYSICAL location. The embassy in London also requires you to submit a statement saying you will remain in London until the visa processing is completed. He has clearly not met these requirements, so yes, his money is gone. There is nothing you can do to attend his interview, because the entire point of the interview is to prove that he is inside the UK.
