I’m in Thailand 🇹🇭 on a 90 day O visa ( marriage )

I started paying 45,000 into my Thai bank account on day 1

I will extend for another 60 days middle of December.

This will take me to middle of February.

Can I apply for 1 year extension with 5 months of deposits or do immigration require 12 months of deposits ?

I have letters from Fire Service Pension and from my War Pension.

I don’t have the lump sum of 400,000 yet until my home in UK sells.

I’m asset rich cash poor ( but have steady income from pensions.

Can anybody advise please 🙏?
Answer summary
The poster is currently on a 90-day Non-O visa in Thailand due to marriage and has been depositing 45,000 THB monthly into a Thai bank account. They are considering applying for a one-year extension after their planned 60-day extension in December. However, they are unsure if five months of deposits suffice for the extension, given the requirement of either a substantial bank deposit or proof of a consistent income for twelve months. Community members provide insights about the requirements, including that some immigration offices might require the 400,000 THB deposit even for the first extension, while others might accept proof of monthly income over twelve months.

Get an ED Visa for 1 year. I go to Thai Language School.

Get the Marriage Visa when you are ready and have the funds. You can’t work on either so one isn’t really any better than the other except not having a Thai bank account.

If your on a thai marriage non o visa and show an income of over £1,400 a month when you first apply in uk. You do not need to deposit an amount every month other than your pension over £1,400 a month. Or any other means of continuing income.

I didn’t realise you could extend the non o 60 days more. I thought you had to extend it to the 1 year.

Most agents don't want anything to do with marriage visas. They cannot be handled by the local immigration office and have to be sent to the district office for approval, so it's not as simple as knowing someone at the local office to push things through. It will require more money and more work to get it done, if they offer the service at all.

Is 400,000 bht how much you need monthly eve n for the non O immigrant Visa?

Marco Antonio Cuevas: There is no “non O immigrant Visa”. “non” is a shortened form of non-immigrant.
John *********

Marco Antonio Cuevas 40,000 a month for 12 months or 400,000 in your account for 2-3 months

John Simpson . . ask your bank in the UK for a loan (mortgage) of the required 400,000 THB deposit in your account, and forget about the rest, at least for the first year. Your home in the UK is an easy collateral for the bank for that loan

There are other options than 400,000 THB on your Thai bank account. But it highly depends on your local Thai Immigrations. It is possible for British ppl also even though I only have specific experience with Danish ppl. You are wellcome to contact me on PM if interested.

You're either going to have to find a lender and borrow the 400k thb and season it gor 2 or 3 months depending on your local immigration office policy or wait until your property sells and you have the cash and start the process over. Also many immigration offices do not accept the monthly income method for 1st extension of stay and require the 400k deposit. Thailand does not want cash poor people they want wealthy people.

the 40k a month has to be every month for 12 months. what i do is 90 days + 60 days. then border run come back on 30 day visa exp empty + 30 day but that does me
Henrik ****
Henrik ****
Jamie Smith, 3 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 7 months. Then you only need 5 more months...
John *********

OP
Henrik JN so I do 3+2- visa run to Laos 🇱🇦 1+1 . Visa run to Laos 🇱🇦 apply for 3 +2
John *********
John *********
OP
Jamie Smith then do you leave again and apply for the 90 day 0 again ?

I just need 12 months of bank transfers to apply for 1 year extension
John *********
John *********
OP
If I go over to Laos 🇱🇦 and apply for another 90 then extend 60 ? That will give me 10 months in Thailand 🇹🇭

I’m near Laos 🇱🇦

I suspect you won't get that 2nd 60 day extension but no harm in trying

John Simpson, question is what kind of money the consulate in Laos asks to see to issue the Non-O 90-Day?

that’s fine I’ll go to Laos 🇱🇦

@John ********
doesn't really matter where you are in Thailand, what's important for you is if the consulate you use to apply for the 90 day Non-O visa will keep issuing them. There are no Thai consulates inside Thailand so you will always have to leave to apply

When i tried to do that i was told that the monthly transfer could not be used for the 1st extension. It had to be the 400,000baht. Then the second extension could be the 40,000baht for 12 months.
Andy **********
Andy **********
Ken Williams It can be used if you have already been paying into your account every month for over 12 months.
Ken **********
Ken **********
Andy Johnston Ok, probably because I had only 5 months on mine. Will have 12months this time if I have to use the 400,000baht

Da Gilhouse for marriage it is only 400,000baht

Ken Williams THAT Sounds Correct
John **********
John **********
To use 40k per month income from overseas you need to be able to show a full 12 months of transfers, can't skip a month and can't be a single baht under, you also need to check whether your local immigration office will allow that method at all as some will only accept the income method if the money is earned inside Thailand. You'll either need to find 400k baht and put it in the bank 2 months before you apply for an extension or leave at the end of the 5 months. You could probably get another 90 day Non-O at a nearby consulate but another 60 day extension is unlikely

No it must be 12 consecutive months of 40k international transfers at the time of the extension application, nothing less and that iis if your Immigration Office accepts this method, have you asked?
