TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses a user's challenge in fulfilling a requirement for their visa application, which asks for proof of six months' accommodation while they are outside Thailand. Comments from other users suggest various strategies, including booking fully refundable accommodations, asking for confirmation from friends in Thailand, and even creating fictitious documentation. Some express frustration over the unreasonable nature of the request, while others provide practical solutions based on their own experiences.
The most unreasonable requirement they have asked for is the authentication of my job contract and a copy of my employer’s business registration, authenticated by the embassy of the country where my company is based. I work for a US employer, and US embassies do not provide authentication or verification for such documents. How can I possibly fulfill this requirement, especially when they are not responding to my emails or phone calls?
Ridiculous request. Why would a person book/rent a place they haven't seen for 6 months? When I applied, I gave the Los Angeles embassy the name and address of the hotel I plan to stay in for a few days (4) while I look for a place and attend my first cooking class. No questions were asked.
Did you provide return flight info? If you don't provide a return flight to exit Thailand, they might question about where will you stay for 6 month, which is the total period of stay without extensión
, no, I did not provide the return flight tickets. Since they have now requested this document, my real concern is how to obtain it. If I fail to do so, they may reject my visa application, and the 1,600 RM I have paid will be wasted.
I wonder why they are asking for this. I'm sure they understand nobody will prepay a booking for 6 months when it's not certain the visa will be approved, and a free cancellation booking will be used, so this requirement makes no sense.
I booked a fully refundable 1 month accomodation on booking
This is a first that I've seen it specified 6 months. I would perhaps do that and write a letter stating you have temp hotel booking so that once you arrive in thailand you can look for a longer term lease
I wrote them a letter but received no response. I called multiple times, but no visa officer was available to speak on the phone, only the Malaysian administrative staff, who do not have any relevant information.
