What are my options to stay in Thailand after July 31, 2020, with an expired Non-Imm O-A visa?

I am a over 55 US citizen and have a non-imm re-entry permit that expires 21 Jul 2020. The re-entry permit is based on a 1 year non-imm O-A visa that expired 25 Jul 2019. I wonder what are my options to stay past 31 Jul 2020, the end of amnesty? I assume one easy option is to fly back to the US and apply for another 1 year Visa. Thank you to the Hive minds of this Visa forum.

TLDR : Answer Summary
As a US citizen over 55 with an expired Non-Imm O-A visa, you can consider leaving Thailand for the US and applying for a new one-year Non-O-A visa. Alternatively, you could possibly apply for an extension of stay at the immigration office before your current stamp expires, provided you meet the financial requirements and have the mandatory insurance. It's crucial to understand the difference between visa validity and the duration of stay allowed under your entry stamp.

I think I am not eligible for an extension as my Visa expired in July 2019.

You are also confusing exiting/re-entering on that O-A visa <- which gives you a new year entry stamp (but doesn't extend anything) with getting a yearly extension at the immigration office by meeting the financial requirements and having the proof of insurance I mentioned.

@Jeff ****
you are confusing two different things

your visa <- which lets you get IN to the country

AND

your entry stamp <- which lets you STAY in thailand.

you entered the country on a valid visa and you were stamped in for a year on the entry stamp that lets you stay until 21 June 2020.

you can apply for a yearly extension of stay at the immigration office when you have 30 days or less left on that stamp by meeting the requirements for an extension based on retirement.

@Jeff ****
you can extend as long as it’s before your current admitted to stay date.

IF you get a yearly extension inside the country at the immigration office from this O-A visa entry stamp you have you will need to use one of the 13 approved thai companies

BUT

If you're going to go back to the US and get a NEW year-long, multi-entry Non-O-A visa from a thai consulate there (like you did the first time) you can use an insurance company in the US to carry the policy as long as it meets the requirements.

Go check the thai consulate website where you are thinking of getting the O-A visa and read their requirements

Here's the Los Angeles Thai Consulates info on the O-A visa

and remember IF you go the year extension route on this O-A visa entry in addition to the 800K baht banked money you will need to meet the mandatory insurance requirements from one of the 13 thai insurance companies that offer O-A insurance

Amnesty occurs no later than July 31, 2020. If the borders open before your visa expires, bounce out and return for another year. *EDIT* no, your visa expires in 2019 - I thougt it said 2020 for some reason.

Depending on your nationality, you can also leave Thailand through any border, return on a tourist visa or visa exampt, put 800K THB in a bank account, and get a non-o visa based on retirement with a one year extension of stay.

@Benjamin *****
his visa expired July 2019 so a bounce won't work. Either return to the US and get a fresh visa or simply apply for an extension of stay based on your visa. You will need the cash in the bank 2 months before applying and relevant insurance in place.
