Curious... I'm on a NON B .. teaching now going on 3 years at a government school.

I'd like to apply for international schools next year.

What can I do about the 4/5 month gap between when my visa/work permit will end (apr 30 2022) and the beginning of a new school year for international schools (Aug/Sept)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, currently on a NON B visa while teaching at a government school for three years, is looking for advice on managing the gap from their visa's expiration in April 2022 to the start of the international school year in August/September 2022. Responses suggest not quitting the current job until securing a firm contract with an international school to avoid visa complications and potential travel needs.

As the OP is talking about 2022...I am closing comment. Possibly a discussion of her options in one of the Facebook teacher chat forums is better now for her. Good Luck.

Simple solution... Do not quit your current job... Wait til you have a firm contract with international school.

Otherwise you may find yourself in need to leave Thailand to get a new Non b visa to teach.

Now is not the time to be change jobs with COVID surge in Thailand.

appreciate that but after 3 years as a certified teacher if this school doesn't offer me a raise I'll be leaving.

I'd happily secure the job before quitting but there is inevitably a 3-4 month gap between the final semester of a government school and the new school year of an international school.

Despite those months between can I get an extension of my visa assuming my 'new school' vouches for me?

No idea how that type of thing works

I fully realize those months would be unemployed/unpaid

But with the contract signed with Aug/Sept start date

there are no "in between" visas. Sure if your new school can provide paperwork that they have hired you already, you might be able to skip the gap. Or you could keep your current job long enough to not have a gap. On the other hand who knows how 2022 looks. By this time next year you might be able to travel freely over Thailand's borders, leaving you with no trouble at all. Just go out, come back on visa exempt and extend and repeat, or go out get a tourist visa extend that and then go and come back on a visa exemption once.
