Hello, guys! I have a question about changing jobs and getting new non-b visa. Currently I have NON-B visa valid untill May 1st so as my work permit. My contract with the school expires on March 1st, but the school offered me to work a camp in March. The owner of the school said that she doesn’t have intentions to cancel my work permit and visa after that. I would like to ask those who faced situations like that, can I stay in Thailand until the end of my visa? Will I get an overstay when I’ll be crossing the border in this case? Thank you all in advance for your replies!

Hello everyone again! So I spoke to my employer and they are ready to give me two months contract untill the may 1st. Just to be clear: is it enough to stay till the end of my visa and not to get myself in any sort of trouble? Thanks everyone for your advice in advance! ☺️

You work until 1 March 2019, on that day your work permit and your Extension of Stay should be cancelled by you. You say the school wants you to stay longer, make a new contract for that period. At the end of that period you cancel your work permit and your Extension of Stay. I not even understand why you asked the owner of the school to take care your work permit and your Extension of Stay.

I have an extension stamp. Till may 1st.

Both the extension of stay and the visa give you a specific legal right to stay in Thailand. For the extension of stay based on employment, according to the document you signed to get that extension at immigration, your extension is as valid for either a year, OR until your job terminates.

A extension of stay based on employment and a work permit must be canceled before you leave Thailand.

My question is this, will a new contract be signed by your school extending your employment through May 1?

this is the question my school doesn’t answer me to. They say they didn’t take decision about my new contract yet but they will not cancel my work permit in case they don’t re-employ me

Just to confirm, do you have a Non-B visa ("The sticker"), OR an extension of stay based on employment ("The stamp"?
