Ho Guys,

Apologies in advance if this is a stupid question or not the right question for this group.

I will be going traveling around SE Asia in January I arrive from the UK into Bangkok so I get the 30days visa.

The plan is to head to Loas within those 30 days however I don’t gabby thing booked.

I know there is a very slim chance of me getting stopped at the airport but if I did and they see I don’t have any further travel I have been told I won’t get in.

Here’s the stupid question.... if for instance I did get stopped could I show them that I will book a plane ticket then and there and I will still be granted entry?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When entering Thailand on a 30-day visa exemption, you may be asked to show proof of onward travel, such as a plane or bus ticket out of the country. While Thai immigration rarely checks this, airlines often require confirmation to allow boarding. It's advisable to book a low-cost flight or obtain a tourist visa in advance to avoid potential issues.

you're going to have far more problems flying in visa exempt without proof of onward travel with your air carrier than you will showing up here (as long as you don't have an extensive history of living here on back-2-back visa exempt or tourist visa entries).

The big issue for travelling to Thailand without a visa is the need for Proof of Onward Travel as called for in the rules on visa exemptions. This is checked by the AIR CARRIERS at check-in and they require a confirmed flight out of Thailand within the 30-day period of stay, otherwise they could deny you boarding. Plans for overland transportation do not count. Carriers in Europe, North America and Australia are particularly strict about this, fearing fines and being forced to transport you back without payment. Regional airlines are usually lax on this, and Thai Immigration hardly ever checks. Solutions: get a flight on a low-cost carrier out of Thailand within the 30 days even if you don’t intend to use it, or get a tourist visa in advance. (The 30-day exemption is not any kind of visa.)

Just how long do you plan to be in Thailand and SE Asia ?

Do you have a return ticket booked back to your home country?

IF you are stopped (highly unlikely), you will need to show a plane ticket. You may be able to purchase one before you cross through immigration and show a screen shot on your phone. Remember, you do NOT need to book a flight out of Thailand, a bus ticket would be acceptable as well (as long as it is out of Thailand, and not within Thailand)

IF you have no prior history in Thailand, I can not imagine immigration asking for the three proofs. However, your airline may ask you for the ticket out of Thailand before they would let you board. Contact your airline company to confirm.

I highly recommend getting either a tourist visa, or a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa.
