What should I consider before reentering Thailand with a Multiple-Entry-ED Visa that has an expired stay stamp?

Hello everyone,

I got a question:

I have an one year Multiple-Entry-ED Visa, where the 90 Days stay is extended till December 31st, since its the date where my semester ends. I was planning on going to Cambodia within the next days and stay there till New Years (1st or 2nd of January) and then return to Thailand till my flight goes back to Germany (8th of January).

1) Are there any complications I should expect while reentering to Thailand since the stamp (not the Visa though) is technically expired one or two days?

2) If yes, how can I avoid them?

3) Is it possible to get a Tourist Visa when I reenter and to "Stamp Out" my Educational Visa at the border?

4) Any things I need to keep in mind that I may have not reconsidered?

Sorry for the many questions, every help is much appreciated!

Thank you and Merry Christmas!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about reentering Thailand with an expired stay stamp on their Multiple-Entry-ED Visa, which technically allows for another 90 days upon re-entry. Community responses clarify that the Visa itself remains valid regardless of the stay extension, and the user will receive a new 90-day stay stamp when returning from Cambodia. There is reassurance that they need not worry about complications or requiring a Tourist Visa to 'Stamp Out' their educational Visa. Moreover, it's noted that they could have avoided the initial extension by re-entering the country earlier.

, DON'T confuse the extension of stay stamp (which you got from the immigration office for 60 days), with how long the VISA is valid for. When you come back from Cambodia, your extension will be expired BUT the VISA will not be and you'll be stamped in for 90 days.

Just so you know;

You really didn't need to get ANY extension of stay 2 months ago, you could have exited/re-entered the country and gotten stamped in for 90 more days, because that's how that visa works.

Okay I think I got it :)

Thank you so much for helping me, this is truly a relief!

That visa is good until July 18, 2018. You can come in and out as much as you want until that date and you'll always be stamped in for 90 days. Then all you'd do is exit/re-enter and get another 90 days. That's how that visa works.

Okay - so sorry, only one more question just for clarification: If I reenter after the stamp expired, I will still get stamped in for 90 days?

Okay, you don't have to worry about it at all. It is a valid VISA and it doesn't matter if you go to school or not, the visa can't be canceled.

You're entitled to stay here 90 days at a time until July 18th 2018.

The visa is unlimited re-entry meaning every time you enter the country you will be stamped in for another 90 days.

You don't hafta do anything. Go to Cambodia, when you come back into the country you'll be stamped in for another 90 days, then you can just fly back to Germany on the 8th without a problem

For the extension I went to the Immigration Office, they gave me 2 more months (til 31st December) for 1900 Baht.

@August ****
, did you go to the immigration office and get an extension of stay for 1900baht or did you exit/re-enter the country to get that stamp?

Okay, thank you very much!!

So it does not really matter, that the stamp says that I have to leave the Kingdom until 31st of December? When I reenter in January I will just get a new one, right?

Where did you get this year-long multi-entry ED visa?

You're lucky as most of the Thai embassies and consulates in Europe don't issue multiple entry ED visa anymore.

Thai Embassy in Frankfurt, the Date of Issue is the 19.07.2017 and the Enter Before Date is 18.07.2018

and what is the issue date and the enter before date on the visa itself?
