Hi, quick question. I know during the worst of covid they weren't letting people in with education visas. I am currently in country with an education visa from Chiang Mai University (extension of stay) and I plan to leave the country for Christmas. I'll of course get a re-entry permit but as things stand at the moment, am I likely to have any issues getting back in with the extension of stay based on education?
Also, how long are re-entry permits valid for? Is it normally in line with your extension of stay date?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about re-entering Thailand with an education visa after traveling for Christmas, considering previous restrictions during COVID-19. Comments indicate that obtaining a Thailand Pass is advisable to avoid potential changes in entry requirements. There's a consensus that re-entry permits are valid for the duration of the current extension of stay, and individuals with valid re-entry permits can currently enter the country.
I would say try to get your Thailand Pass before you even leave to stay grandfathered in potentially if there are changes, but at the same time be ready to return on very short 2-3 days notice as they usually give a few days warning for changes.
A re-entry permit is good for as long as your current extension is good for AND people can now enter the country on existing ED visa/extensions w/valid re-entry permits AND they can buy an ED visa from the thai consulate in their country before they come here and get in as well.
You will meet the entry requirements in place to get IN to thailand when you come back
