I'm currently here on an ED visa in Bangkok but purchased tickets a while back to return to the US over the upcoming holidays. I'll be gone dec 7 returning jan 4. Is this too long? be a problem? I haven't seen any info on maximum length of time allowed out of the country etc.. I'll be going to chaengwattana this Tuesday to apply/pay for a re-entry stamp. Thanks very much for any help!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about returning to the US over the holidays while on an ED visa in Bangkok, specifically about being outside Thailand for an extended period from December 7 to January 4. They are applying for a re-entry stamp and are uncertain if their prolonged absence will affect their visa status or school attendance requirements. Responses indicate that regular attendance is important for visa renewal, and while there is no clear maximum time outside the country mentioned, it could raise flags for immigration if there are attendance issues.

Yeah that's what I was worried about.. regular attendance is part of the deal, but I got my tickets before I knew that and changing my ticket would be pricey because Christmas.. guess I'll just hope no flags go up at either immigration or school.

You want to spend about 30% of your extension outside the country, ergo, not attending classes. The norm is at least an 80% attendance for renewel, so maybe your school will tick some boxes when you are not there.

My stamp is good until dec 3 so first I have to apply for an extension and then wait in line again to do a re-entry. My language school has been very helpful regarding documents, forms, but couldn't give me a clear answer about 28 days out of the country. If immigration can deal with the back to back requests I should be good? Lotsa baht!

The big question is till what date is the Admitted to Stay stamp in your passport?
