What should a freelancer do when asked for payslips for a Thailand DTV visa application?

Hi everyone

I applied for the Thailand DTV visa and I just received a request asking for copies of my last 3 payslips.

I’m a freelancer / independent contractor, so I don’t receive payslips. I issue monthly invoices and then receive the payments by bank transfer.

Has anyone been in the same situation?

Should I upload an explanation letter together with the invoices? Or what can I do

TLDR : Answer Summary
A freelancer applying for the Thailand DTV visa received a request for last 3 payslips, which they cannot provide. The community suggests submitting invoices along with a cover letter explaining the situation and providing bank statements to show payments received. Some commenters note that the embassy may be asking for more than the legal requirements, which typically do not include payslips for freelancers. It is advised to clearly explain the income sources in any correspondence with the embassy.

Send them the invoices and your the bank statements showing the corresponding payments highlighted. Definitely include a cover letter explaining to them what you are providing. You dont want them leave it up to the person checking to figure what you sent.

"Invoice dated XX/XX/XX for $XX.XX which was paid on XX/XX/XX (See page #X with the payment highkighted."

What country are you in? What embassy applying with? Seems like another embassy going overboard and beyond legal requirements for the DTV.

Overboard? Beyond requirements? Whatever the embassy asks is their legal requirements.

Not really. The legal requirements for the DTV are published in written law in the Royal Thai Gazette. At no point in said law is having regular income / payslips a legal requirement. The monetary requirement is having savings of at least 500k THB or its equivalent in another currency. I know Thai offices / officers tend to make up their own rules. Does not make it a legal requirement.

Compile your invoices and write a cover letter for them explaining that you do not receive payslips. If you’re feeling particularly extra I’d highlight those transactions also being deposited into your account.

Of course, show your invoices and the related incoming payments. Include a very brief cover letter explanation in the upload.

Invoices, tax returns the last two years and a good letter might help..this is the problem with not having a company.
