What documents do I need to submit for a DTV visa in Thailand as a freelancer?

Hey folks, I would like to get a second opinion on whether or not I'll be submitting enough documents for a DTV visa as a freelancer. My main concern is that I have only just recently become a freelancer and only have a few contracts at this moment, all of which are somewhat small, and many are from the same company. I do not have my own business anywhere. Here is what I am planning to submit for my application in Hanoi:

* Cover letter outlining intentions and my work situation along with a list of docs

* Passport and recent photo

* Six months of back statements demonstrating savings over THB 500,000 throughout

* I live in Vietnam right now and so evidence of current residency: existing visa, most recent entry stamp, current lease agreement

* Letter from my friend in Chiang Mai who I will list as my address in Thailand before I am able to find something longer term once there

* Proof of freelance work: a copy of my Linkedin profile, a copy of my website advertising my services, recent consultancy agreements, an NDA from another client. I also have access to one of my clients' business registration documents in the UK.

Is this enough? Should I plan to submit anything else, say for example a tax return from when I was employed full time? TIA for any guidance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks opinions on the sufficiency of their document submission for a DTV visa as a freelancer, including a cover letter, bank statements showing savings, proof of freelance work, and residency evidence. Comments suggest adding proof of payments received, a tax return, and possibly applying at a different embassy due to potential rejections in Hanoi.

At this stage, it would be just easier for you to simply incorporate an LTD in the UK and sign an employment agreement with yourself as a director.

That would probably also help your freelancing business as well...

No need for the Chiang Mai letter unless asked. Highlight the deposits from clients in your bank statement for ease of understanding. A very brief cover letter explaining your work, that you won't have any Thai clients, and any other tidbits you feel relevant.

Your bank statement should also have proof of income.

They will ask for tax return.

You qualified the requirements of Visa Application. I would like you to suggest that don't apply in Hanoi so far. Because there are many rejected cases without solid reason. Go forward to Laos, Vientiane Embassy and you will get Visa during 3-5 working days.

They are starting to be strict I suspect everywhere now. Was told by Embassy in Singapore too.

They didn’t elaborate and I didn’t want to take up too much time on the queue to ask. Counter person just mentioned they are starting to reject DTV due to scammers etc. whatever that means. I guess it’s probably documentation or forging doc etc.

They might ask for business registration for one of the companies you work for, so send that along. Send updated bank statements, ideally from this month! Keep na eye out for email from them. Better to submit on Monday.

Of course brother. From the start of March, my colleagues' applications had been rejected. Most of applicants avoid Hanoi currently. But it is up to you and choose the embassy wisely.

Do you have proof of the payments received by your client(s)

I do but only as part of my bank statements. I don’t have like a payment receipt or anything like that.

that’s fine. However, I’d recommend creating an invoice, or receipt. May be wise also to highlight the credits coming into the account which relate to your work, as it will make it easier. There is no income requirement as such, but they will want to see certain things; so just try to make it as easily understandable for them as possible.
