Does anyone know what proof I will need at HCM for a Thai tourist visa? Off there on holiday with a friend for a few days, so I might as well get a new visa while I'm there.

Answer summary

To obtain a Thai tourist visa in Ho Chi Minh City (HCM), you'll generally need to show proof of your flight into Thailand and a reservation for your outbound flight. It's recommended to also carry documentation like proof of lodging and around THB 20,000 in cash, although recent travelers have noted that these documents were not always requested. The visa fee is approximately USD 40.

No need for a visa to enter Vietnam if you're British (or many other nationalities) - you get a 15 day exemption on arrival.

I went to HCM a couple of months ago - no proof of lodging or finances required - they only wanted to see my flight into Thailand and an outbound reservation. Best to take your lease / proof of lodging here and THB20,000 in cash with you just in case they ask.

The fee for the visa is USD40.
