What options do I have for extending my stay in Thailand after my Non-B visa expires in March 2024?

Hi,

Just looking for advice regarding my situation. I know there's a lot of advice already posted, I know that the easiest thing to do is probably just to pay a border agent, but I want to ask for advice anyway.

I first arrived in Thailand in August of '22, then recieved a Non-B (legitimately) in September through the company (teaching agency) that hired me. I worked for that company until March '24, then went back to the US. I returned to Thailand in early January for a wedding and realized I didn't really want to live in the USA anymore. I was able to secure another job for the next academic year (signed contract and everything), but that won't start until May. My 60 days are up in March - what's the best course of action? Should I leave before the 60 days are up and then try to return (after a few days or weeks) without getting the 30 day extension first? Should I just go somewhere else until May?
Answer summary
The user is seeking advice on managing their visa situation in Thailand after their initial 60-day stay is about to expire. They arrived in Thailand with a Non-B visa for employment, but now face a gap before starting a new job in May 2025. A comment suggests obtaining a 30-day extension and using a border run agency to secure a new 60-day stamp for more time flexibility.

Don't overthink it. Get the 30 day extension then use a land border bounce agency to get a new 60 day stamp after that. That gives you more time flexibility with the job and the ability to apply for another 30 day extension.

I appreciate that, but the post from earlier was saying that even first runs are being denied.

that post said that you can use a border bounce agent. That's why you use them. Then you're all but guaranteed a problem free exit and return.

Yeah, they're not going to sit around and wait for you. They're not a tour company. They get as many people across and back as they can, and then they are done. Maybe there are agents that hang around at the border, but you'd have to find that yourself as 99% of people just want to go cross back and go back home.

I know that, and I wouldn't expect them to show me around Laos (I've been many times and need absolutely no assistance). I just want to be sure I'll be able to cross when I'm ready to return.

I only know Bangkok agents, and none of them do anything except drive you straight to the border and back. They're agents not tour guides. Their job is to get you stamped out of Thailand and back in again without any problems.

Do you have any recommendations for agents? I'd like to do Nong Khai, but I want to visit Laos for a bit before returning (as I've never been to Luang Prabang)
