Has anyone actually received one of the ๐Ÿฆ„ rare LTR visas?

Trying to interpret what the boi is telling me. Apparently there is an unnamed 3 steps between the official step 3 and 4. Trying to get a sense of how long the wait is after the supervisor has your app that was already reviewed by the qualifications officer and a screener.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The LTR (Long-Term Residence) visa application process appears to have significant waiting times and variability in experiences. Some applicants report waits ranging from 50 days up to 5 months, with successful approvals depending heavily on persistence in following up with the authorities. Communication methods such as phone calls seem to expedite the process, as many users experienced faster progress after directly contacting the relevant offices. The backlog and strict criteria for the visa also contribute to the uncertainty in timelines.

"Brian McCarter in my experience it varies a lot unfortunately. Mine took almost 10 weeks end to end, my wifeโ€™s took less than 10 days. Some of that time was self inflicted, lots of it was related to the category I applied under and the documents required.

The status steps on the website are pretty broad so I found them to be limited in terms of detailed status but a pretty good indicator of if your application is moving or stalled.

The agents doing the processing are generally pretty quick at doing actions that are in their court but they are a front end to Thai Immigration so there are steps where they process something and then need to pass it to immigration next and that seems to be a bit of a black hole so that is where at least some of the vague answers originate I believe.

The overall process is that the BOI processes the applications and weeds out those that do not qualify and makes sure that all of the steps and documents are correct so that packets that go forward to immigration are most likely to be successful or come back with minimal questions.

If your application had all the right documents and any questions that the BOI processors had were resolved then the rest should move fairly quickly like a few days at most. If you feel like it is โ€œstuckโ€ then I found that they were pretty responsive to at least let you know if it was back in your court or waiting for something on their end so you at least know where the ball is.

It is also my opinion that for the LTR there was no grey zone on the requirements, they hold pretty much to the letter, so if you think that something qualifies in your opinion but it needs them to understand something (like an odd pension income or anything like that) then they do not have a lot of wiggle room. (I suspect that is a rule from Immigration and not the BOI)"

Ok looks like we got a range from 50 days to 5 months, and it requires gentle pestering. I'll call tomorrow.

Currently it has been estimated that only about 10 per cent of applicants have been approved.

Still a huge backlog and rumors of changes to the income requirements, that may be beneficial to applicants.

Hopefully it's going to get better!

I also contacted via Line a few times and got run around a little bit.

But once I finally picked up the phone and called (a last resort since I hate talking on the phone) things started moving much quicker.

I had to call multiple times to move the process along. Took a total of 50 days for me to get approved. Would have been less had I known earlier I would need to nudge them along.

@JD ******
how long were you in step 3 for?
Chris ******
What JD said.... I called them 3 or 4 times, every time I called them it pushed things along. The last call I made, I got the approval the next day. Mine took around 40 days I think.

I got stuck at this point for 5 months and after they asked for all my info in multiple ways (SSN, tax returns, monthly bank and brokerage statements over last 2 years etc.), they rejected me without reason. I suspect they did not view my deferred income as a pension despite it being that. Very tedious and disappointing waste of a lot of time. I wish you luck โ€ฆ others have got it.

Sounds like you've been approved by an officer and it's now passed to his supervisor for confirmation
