Has anyone had a will written in Thailand and could share the cost please? My wife an I have been quoted 30,000

We have used the lawyer for other things and he is diligent, I haven’t got another quote to compare yet, I just wanted a reality check from others!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The cost of having a will written in Thailand varies significantly based on the lawyer or service used, with reports ranging from as low as 4,000 THB to as high as 30,000 THB. Many expats have shared their experiences, with suggested prices including 6,000 to 10,000 THB for professional services, while others recommend DIY options that involve writing it out yourself and getting it stamped at an official office for a minimal fee. It's advised to shop around and potentially compare multiple quotes to ensure a fair price.

30,000 baht sounds a lot. I paid 10,000 two years ago in Korat for a Thai will to cover my Thai assets and it was prepared by Thai /English lawyers in both Thai and English.

Here in Chiang Mai my Will cost 10,000 baht 2 years ago with a Living Will thrown in for free! The first Will cost 20,000 in Bangkok some 15 years ago so 30,000 sounds OK but do shop around.

she has done many Wills. She also worked in the UK for almost 20 years.

Cost wise, it's about B6,500 per person for Thai & English. And B4,500 if you want Thai only.

Maybe drop her an email at:

As already stated by others, write it yourself detailing it a fully as you can. Find a registered transaction company.

Take to the local Amphur and register it. Very little money and legal

I wrote it on a paper (must be handwritten) and got it signed and stamped by my consulate, 1 600,- THB for the stamp and a warm handshake. It's good not to spend too much money on it, because every time you change it, it will cost you money.

Todd McGowan my lawyer in Austria said it will work . However, it depends, if you need to go with the Thai law this is maybe a different story. I only needed to make clear that my will, has to go according the Austrian law at the time of my dead.

If straightforward look online for a downloadable free one. Thai wills are often self written
