What is the TM30 notification process for visa extensions in Thailand?

Just an FYI - I've been asked for a TM 30 notification at Chaengwattana while doing my non b extension for work. The guy next to me was also asked - he was doing an extension for his studies. Neither of us had received one, so we need to get it done and then return.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a NON-B visa extension at the Chaengwattana immigration office, it was noted that a TM30 notification is required. Both individuals present during the process were asked for this document. There were questions about the TM30 filing process, including whether it could be self-filed at the immigration office and the logistics of queuing for the necessary paperwork.

And as this is another TM30 address registration discussion, if you have any questions take a look at the populair topic in post section for answers or visit your local Immigration Office to get the answers directly.

can TM30 form be obtained at the Immigration? I plan to file it myself with the provided copies of my landlord's ID and deed.

Tod Daniels oh i just had another question, i know this tm30 thing applies to people staying here long term but would i also need to do it if i am going in for a tourist visa extension? Or do i need to show like a ticket out of Thailand instead? I have one month extension coming up on my current tourist visa

wow ok sounds good then, thanks so much for the info, its been breaking my head trying to understand all the stuff i read online.

@Viol****
, yep, what I am saying is you can self-file with just your lease (rental contract) and your passport. You DON'T need the landlords id, their house book or the power of attorney form

You need the following copies

your rental contract

the data page of your passport

your visa, entry stamp and extension (if you have one)

your TM.6 departure card

A filled out TM.30 form.

With those things you can file a TM.30 without ANYTHING from the land lord :P

I know 100% that this works because I've done it several times already at Chaengwattana in Section B the TM.30 reporting section ;)

The TM.30 form is in our Files section of this group,

where to get this power of attorney form too...wow what a headache

@Tod ********
hmmm so just take a copy of lease and passport? By lease u mean contract? I am a bit confused...so can i self file? Cuz my landlord will not do it for me , absolutely wont.

@Violetta *********
just so you know, IF you are going to file on behalf of your land lord you need a power of attorney form with 2 five baht tax stamps.

It's better to 'self file' where you just take a copy of your lease and passport..

They have the forms available at the information counter.

@Jona****
How long did it take you to go to section B, sit thru that queue to self file a TM30 and then go back to section N for your extension?

AND

were you able to just go back to the officer you had at section N or did you have to get a new queue number and wait all over again?

@Luke *******
You can visit Immigration and just ask yourself. It might be quicker than asking other people to do this for you.

Hi
@Tod ********
is there any word yet on what someone staying at a room - who is not the renter - would take to register a TM30 in lieu of a rental agreement?

@Jonathan ***************
just take in a copy of your lease and copies of your passport, that is all you need to "self-file" a TM.30 at Chaengwattana. You don't need any copies of the house book or the land lords i/d or the power of attorney or anything.

Unfortunately I didn't have any of the documents with me, so I'm not sure how long section b would take.

The officer kept my non b documents, checked and cleared everything else, and told me as soon as I had a receipt for the TM 30 I needed to get a new queue for N2 - not N1. I don't know if I would have been able to go to the same officer or whether I would have had to get a new queue for N2 if I had been able to complete the TM 30 today.

So that was in section N? I ask that seeing as it's the ONLY section that has both people on ED visas and Non-B's get extensions at the same section.

Correct, section N1. When I asked at information, the woman there seemed to be rather surprised, so maybe I just got super unlucky.
