What is the reference number for Wise transfers when applying for a retirement extension in Thailand, and are there any recent issues with getting bank statements from Bangkok Bank?

I have decided that for my 2nd retirement extension next year that I will use the 65,000 baht monthly deposit method. What I would like to know is what do you use for your reference number when you are using Wise for your monthly transfers? (the transfers are marked as international funds transfer already).

My second question is has anyone had any problems in the last month getting a full year print out and yearly bank letter from Bangkok Bank lately? Thank you.

You will need a 12 month printed statement from your bank - no signature needed.

Most Immigration Offices also require an up to date bank book AND a signed letter from your bank.

Please check with your Immigration Office what their requirements are,

I hope this helps 😃

Yes, make sure you check the year statement from Bangkok Bank. I didn't check it until I had already left the bank and noticed they left off two months. I went back to the bank and I still had to pay extra for those months and it was their fault. 5555

I had one stupid issue. I picked up the letter, it looked ok, then I brought it to immigration. The next day I got a call that it had been rejected.

The date of the letter was incorrect. So I had to go back to the bank and get it fixed. Then there was no problem.

Bangkok Bank doesn't issue these summaries anymore. You now get a full 12-month statement of all transactions

can you expand on this please? My first 65k went in on July 4th and my second one went in on August 8th. To do it properly, what date must be showing on my last transfer next year?

"similar" dates each month. I was always within a week but it is possible that it could be more. For sure, never miss a month or else you have to start over.

I recently tried this method with Bangkok Bank. I had to use my home bank to order the 12 month statement. I had to come back a week later to pick up the paperwork to include a statement from the bank itself. You need plenty of time.Cost was approx 500 baht or thereabouts

The "Purchase property" reason also triggers the transfer to show up as international/foreign together with "Funds for long term stay in Thailand". If it shows up as international or not depends on the receiving bank. Same with the bank code.

I don't put in a reference number when using Wise. I use the mobile app to email a year's worth of statements (so I don't have to wait a week for the bank to send it) and go to the bank for the letter. No problem for April, which was the last time I did it.

Bbk will give you the statements and letter for sure. They love it when you come in a week before to give them a heads up than walk in and ask same day. They know the drill too so don’t try explaining to them line it’s their first time.

You can at some immigration offices now use a print out from Bangkok Banks app =12 months bank statement. It even works at CW immigration in Bangkok.

as long as that statement covers the entirety of the period from your last extension, particularly if you use yearly funds. It doesn't really give you 12 months, it gives you the current month and the 11 prior months

It gives full twelve months. The current month plus 11 is twelve months. The requirement is 12 x 65k transfers leading up to the date of application.

if you do monthly income it probably works fine for you. I do annual money and my extension is usually processed close to the end of the month. I normally just request the statements from the bank a week before I want them but a couple of years ago the bank managed to lose them and I didn't have enough time to request them again so thought I'd use the ones provided by the app. Immigration refused to accept them because they didn't quite go back far enough (from memory there was around 10 days missing immediately after my last extension). Luckily I then discovered that you can get the exact same statements that you normally have to wait 5 working days for emailed directly to you and they arrive around lunchtime the day after you order them.

Further question, please advise if the applicant uses this method of income or pension, does it need to have a verification letter from the embassy or consulate supporting the application of extension of stay? Thanks.

it depends. If your embassy in Thailand provides an income affidavit then some immigration offices require that you use that.

yes but now some IO's need and original copy not a bw copy and want the stamp date and signature from the bank. Its all over the Pattaya bank issue.. my friend in Petchabun had to do this and yes he spoke to the same lady 3 times before in the past.

I did it last week at CW. Maybe some provincial offices have a different policy. I know Bangkok Bank in Bangkok haven't stamped the statements for the last three years and will now accept the emailed 12-month statement. Pattaya has more dodgy agents than anywhere else in Thailand so it's possible they are paranoid?
