Applied in Hanoi first thing Monday morning and was approved at about 5pm on Friday. Pretty hassle free, the only extra thing they asked for was my Vietnam entry stamp and I only had 500k in the bank for about 5 weeks. Thank you Muay Thai Fever and Derry McCourt .

What did you originally supply as proof of being in Vietnam? Usually entry stamp is required, especially from the countries in the region, now that they moved to e-visa
