Hi everyone!

I’m wondering if anyone in this group has applied for the new DTV visa in Hanoi as a tourist? I saw they’ve included it in their latest price list and also announced it on their Facebook page so it seems that they will be issuing it, but I’m not sure if they will require proof of residence in Vietnam. I tried to inquire by email but have not received a response from them. Would be great to hear from anyone who has tried/will be trying to get this visa in Hanoi! Thanks :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
Users are discussing the new DTV visa for tourists available in Hanoi. There are concerns about the requirement of proof of residence and the lack of responses from the embassy regarding this visa. Someone shared their experience applying for a tourist visa and faced entry denial in Bangkok despite having a valid visa, highlighting uncertainty in immigration's acceptance of visas.

I’ve applied for a tourist visa 3 weeks ago in Hanoi and after 3 days I got the visa sticker. However when I landed in Bangkok, at the immigration point they stopped me and wanted denied my entry due 4 tourist visa stamps in 2 years. Everything legal but even if any embassy approves the visa, it is not sure that immigration at the airport will accept your entry. I don’t know how will works with DTV but the entry criterion depends on who you find at immigration when you arrive in Thailand. That’s what I see

what did you have to do when you were denied?

I stayed two hours talking with immigration explaining why I’m there, my found etc etc Finally they allowed my entry but they told me that will denied my next tourist visa. Pushing me for buy elite visa. My opinion is that the new government wants to get as much money as possible from expats and foreigners, that’s why new taxes are coming.

Take a big breath, and wait, if you are not in need of getting a visa straight away.

In 2-3 weeks we will know a lot more about the criteria to get the DTV, where and how to best.

I’ll be in Hanoi first week of August and will go to the embassy to ask in person if I don’t hear back from them before that - will let you know what they say!

awesome thank you. If you could also ask how it would work with Muay Thai or medical treatment, that would be amazing ❤️
