Hello, can anyone recommend a translation company in Bangkok (ideally near the British embassy) which can translate from English to Thai and take it to the MFA to be notarized? 

Any idea on cost of this service & time scale?

There are a whole bunch of translation services in Mahatun Plaza at the Ploenchit BTS station or go to the Trendy building on Sukhumvit Soi 13 the entire ground floor is nothing but translating service companies.

All of them offer a service where they do the translating, go get the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stamp and mail the documents to you.

They stopped same day service a good while back. Most services usually can get it in two days or so.

One thing you need to be aware of is IF they are translating your name into thai, make damned sure it sounds something like your name when a thai says it, because that spelling will be your legal thai spelling from them on. My friend Sean pronounce Shawn, is now called Seen ซีน in thai :O
