Hi, my partner and I are in the process of obtaining a Non-Immigrant "ED" visa and we've been informed by the school that everyone now needs to obtain a police clearance certificate from Thailand (not our home countries). Does anyone here have experience obtaining one from Chiang Mai recently? Where did you go, what did you need to take with you etc? Any advice is much appreciated, thank you. Also, has anyone been through the process of obtaining one online/by mail? What was that process like?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks guidance on obtaining a police clearance certificate in Chiang Mai for the Non-Immigrant 'ED' visa. Several commenters provide information about where to obtain the certificate, including a specific government office on road 107, as well as details about requirements such as the need for a letter from the school and associated fees. The conversation also highlights that requirements for police clearance can vary based on the embassy and the applicant's nationality.

Its infront of lanna golf course, but you have to have a letter from your school. There you pay 100 baht for police clearance also

It is more WHERE you're applying for the ED visa (and to some extent your nationality) rather than everyone now needs it :O

There is a place in Chiang Mai, that does the finger printing for you and then you mail it down here to the special branch.

It's the forensic center up there. Post your question in a Chiang Mai group and you'll get answers from someone who did it

True, depends where you go for your visa. Penang never use to need a police clearance, but that changed in the last 6months or so. ( I am a UK passport holder).

Seems many of the Embassys change the list of what is needed. My advise would be to double check with the Embassy your going to and then check again just before you go.

As the question change: It depends on the place, Thai Consulate where you are going to apply for this Non Immigrant ED Visa,. a Police clearance is no requirement for a UK passport holder or resident at the Thai Embassy in London

The school told me to go to Chiang Mai whereas I see that place is in Bangkok. I'll go back to the school on Monday and find out what/where in Chiang Mai they were trying to tell me I could get one done.
