Hi folks!

Educational Visa... the school I would like to attend included this in the document list I have to provide:

"All countries need to provide a police history check certificate from their embassy or local police station".

Have you had the same requirement?

Can the 6 months ED visa extended to 12? and the 12 months one?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the requirement for a police history check certificate for obtaining an Educational Visa (ED) in Thailand, specifically for a school application. It seeks clarification on whether a 6-month ED visa can be extended to 12 months. Community responses confirm that an ED visa is not issued for 6 or 12 months directly; rather, the process involves obtaining a 90-day Non-Immigrant Type ED visa, which can be extended at the immigration office with school paperwork, rather than a fixed duration for the visa itself.

To get a police check inside the country you can use the Special Branch division here in Bangkok, or check to see if your area has an office.

The way it works for an ED visa for a private school is like this;

You get the paperwork from the school and the Ministry of Education to go to a thai consulate in a neighboring country and apply for a 90 day Non-Immigrant Type ED visa

Then when that 90 days is running out you get more paperwork from the school and go to the immigration office to apply for a 90 day extension. You do that for the entire time you signed up to study.

There is no 6 month ED visa, there is no year ED visa for studying at a private school

It sounds like you're applying at a school in the south of thailand because they recently implemented a policy like that for all the schools down there.
