Hi everyone 👋 I have a random question.. has anyone here (foreigner) ever applied for US tourist visa in Bangkok? Can you share your experience, pls? TIA

Answer summary

The post inquires about the experiences of foreigners applying for a US tourist visa in Bangkok. Commenters note that while it is possible to apply from Thailand, the embassy may ask about your status in Thailand and the reasons for applying locally. One user expressed plans to apply at the end of the year to visit family in the USA, while another shared anecdotal insights on the general perception of the US Embassy's rigorous process.

I am an American so I say with love. My understanding is, US Embassy are a bunch of dicks. From what I understand the process is not easy and takes a long time. But I have not ever applied for a US visa, obviously. Best of luck to you.

Canada is nice in the summer time, people are little nicer.

They're not a bunch of dicks, they're actually very nice and helpful, it's just that the visa rules are so tough they have no choice but to deny most visas.

I plan to at the end of the year to meet my family who are going on holiday in the USA I never actually thought it would be an issue.

It is possible but they are likely to want to know what you are doing in Thailand and why you are applying from here.
