TLDR : Answer Summary
Users shared varied experiences regarding the DTV (soft power or workation) visa application process in Kuala Lumpur. One user expressed frustration with lengthy processing times from LAX, while another faced application denial in KL but success elsewhere. Concerns were raised about strict application requirements from the Malaysian embassy, including having several months of accommodation booked in Thailand and significant bank funds. One user is currently in the application process, noting their timeline at 8 days since payment, indicating a mix of hopeful and cautious sentiments among applicants.
Iām currently in the application process in KL, how about you?

Applied KL and got denied. Applied elsewhere and approved immediately

Malaysia is possibly the strictest embassy for approval due to requirements such as having several months of accommodation booked in Thailand, 6 months banked of 500k THB, notarized certifications. This is why other SE Asian embassies are way more popular for applications. If you are willing to submit what KL wants you will be fine.

I can tell you I'm sitting here in KL wishing I applied here, as the visa I applied through via LAX is taking a long time to get responses out of. First response was over 15 complete business days, asked for more docs. I responded immediately and am now past 9 complete days waiting for second review...
