DTV soft power

Besides the 50,000 THB bank balance requirement, is there any additional income requirement (job, salary, savings amount, etc.) for approval? Thanks in advance
Answer summary
The DTV visa requires a minimum bank balance of 500,000 THB; however, additional income requirements can vary by embassy. While some embassies may not enforce strict income documentation beyond the stated amount, others may request proof of income or employment, particularly for workcation applicants. The legal texts do not explicitly state a requirement for regular income, but discrepancies in requirements across different embassies have been noted.

If you were a genuine prospective applicant you would already know this.

Reading comments other anonymous members and many times used by some hard core advisors, I would say:

Yes, more and more Embassy ask for documents so you meet all the requirments for workcation, issue a visa without mentioning the purpose to let you think it is soft power.

In this way you do not feel scammed by paying schools lots of money and/or not feel scammed by agencies for their help.

You have a visa (you do not care as every visa is the same), the Embassy did issue the correct visa for your stay, it all becomes:

a Win Win situation.

Therefor you need to travel every 180 months, as Immigration does not play games.

Yes, you’ll need to submit remote job related documents, payments if you’re thinking to apply DTV workation visa. No, it’s not 50K Baht, it’s 500k Baht. You should read old posts and success stories from this group.

By law / the legal texts pertaining to the DTV: no additional financial requirements beyond those 500k THB plus in savings. Sadly, and like with many things Thai bureaucracy, some embassies make up additional requirements asking for payslips or income transactions.

: They want to be sure that you will not be a liability for Thailand rather you are. Capable of earning enough to spend your time there. A net flow of foreign exchange into thailand . Not outflow

All visa applicants must have sufficient funds for their stay in Thailand.

It is up to the individual embassies to determine how this must be proven.

These are therefore not requirements added by the embassy, but rather an implementation of the requirements.

The legal text pertaining to the DTV explicitly mentions 500k THB in savings as the financial requirement for this particular visa. If the intention of the legislative would have been to additionally ask for an additional monthly / regular income requirement, they would have asked for it in said legal texts - as they did with the LTR for example, where clear income thresholds are mentioned.

Take part in courses does not mean that in between periods of training you cannot do a job in another country.

There is no rule that you do the course 12 months a year during 5 years.

And income not comes always from work, there are other ways.

I know German people always want a strict rule for everything, but for some things it is just better to have general rules and let human beings fill in.

You will find especially concerning visa rules there is a lot of freedom in all countries.

A minimum set of rules is in law, the rest has to be done at descretion of people.

Visa processing is just not exact science.

I know you like to argue things. You and the Thai way of bureaucracy go along exceptionally well. ;-) It is long overdue that Thailand adopts a stricter rule of law, in which officials act based on written law and regulations, instead of making things up on the go / interpreting things individually. It is highly annoying that whatever Thai bureaucracy you deal with, you visit two different offices or ask two different officers of the very same organization, you get vastly different information or requirements. This is true for driving licenses (DLT), immigration, revenue department – or you name it. It is a big flaw in the Thai way to give so much leeway to individual officers / little sheriffs. Not only is it inconvenient and leading to inconsistencies, it also is what enable the omnipresent corruption and hinders the fight against it. Bottom line: If the legal text pertaining to the DTV does not require any minimum income / financial funds beyond 500k THB in savings, there should not be any requirements by only a handful / individual embassies beyond that. If they want things to tighten up, they should change /amend the underlying legal texts, so that people have a clear understanding of requirements. It does not even make sense to ask for regular income in most cases. Like the soft power DTV is explicitly for taking part in courses / not working. So one would assume that living off of savings is the go-to solution here.

The requirement for sufficient funds for living is for all tourist visa, so no need to specify again for DTV, the 500k is just extra for DTV, it is just menat for emergency situations because that risk is higher with a longer stay.

It is perfectly normal that an embassy asks for extra documents, it is mentioned on the official evisa site "the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate-General may request for an interview or additional documents".

Yes they also want to see income as the 500k is just a slush fund in case something goes wrong

500,000* income requirement depends on Embassy and additional emails you will get, but in most cases no.
