TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the experience of applying for the O-A Visa online from Australia. Several users share their insights, noting that the application process is relatively straightforward and can be completed in under a week. One commenter suggests considering the Non-OX Visa as an alternative, particularly for those with specific residency plans. An important tip mentioned is to avoid applying too early, as entry to Thailand is required within three months of visa approval.

Yes, I did it a few weeks ago. Super easy and took less than a week to get approved.

Just make sure you don’t apply too early as you have to arrive in Thailand 🇹🇭 within 3 months of approval

Thanks for this. Just one question if I may, how did you get on with the medical certificate? My GP for the last 40yrs will do it, but he won't sign the form & wants to issue his own. He also wants to do a full medical. I've explained that I do not need a full check up at the moment, but rather confirmation that I do not have the any of the specified prohibitive diseases. You only have to look at me to see that I do not have leprosy, elephantiasis a drug addiction or alcoholism, so just a chest x-ray for TB and a urinalysis for drugs & alcohol (don't drink anyway)!

Apologies, I mustn’t have had my glasses on when I read your post. I thought you were asking about a Non O. Sorry.

Have you considered the Non-OX, if not check it out?

Hi Graham. Yes I did but I do not need it. I am retired and have no intention of ever working again, so the OA will do me nicely. I also considered the Elite, but I'm struggling to justify the 1.5m baht 'membership' fee which is only for the initial 5 year period and what they do not tell you is that it is payable AGAIN each time you re-apply, so if I stay in Thailand for 20 years I will effectively be throwing away 6,000,000 baht or AUD285,000. I've easily got the money, but have neither the need nor desire to throw it away.

I had OA went to OX. Was 300aud for OA 1 year+ 1 and 600aud for 5 + 5 made more sense

You cannot work on a Non-OX, if if effectively a longer version of the Non-OA and is popular with Aussie citizens due to the financial requirements (Aussie bank not a Thai bank)
