When applying for OA visa from uk is it best to wait to book a flight when you have visa.

when you get the bar code must you send it straight back or can you send it at a later time.

I just looked and it does not show you need a ticket to thailand when you apply.

I'd say get the visa as close to when you're coming here as you can BUT allow enough time for the processing and getting it back to you.
Tod *********
I am not sure if the thai consulate in UK requires proof of when you're coming to thailand.

What does it say on the London consulate website under the O-A visa requirements?

well, deleting the saved/pending files is a big help and now i understand how it works (thanks Ron!). Using chromium browser was a huge help! reducing pixel size in camera v helpful. I am not done but i am now confidant whereas before i posted i was never going there.

good mate. Once you understand how the system works, it's easy. The hardest bit is getting the file size down to 0.5MB.
Ron *******
I think a lot of the problems are software and browser comparability. The E visa application site runs fast and smooth from an Android phone.

The number 1 problem though is the pending files in the folder. YOU CANNOT do anything or make changes with a new application if you have these files sitting there. You have to either make the application or delete them.

I believe because it is web based, that it was designed this way or the system would eventually crash due to overload of dead files on the server.

You start here for visa type. I think that's where people are getting confused. You cannot select a visa as such.
Ron *******
You don't select a visa as such. You select a reason to visit and the system selects the correct visa. You need to change the reason to visit while still in that section. If you move forward and then realise you made the wrong selection to visit and hence realise you are being issued the wrong visa, you need to clear the application or the system will default back to your previous selection.

Thats the reason why if you do multiple applications as a family or for friends, everybody has to apply for the same visa.

You could only apply for different reasons for a visa if you sent each application individually.

Basically, if you have a file pending in the folder for say a long stay visa (O-A) and you don't want that visa, you need to clear it or when you try for a different type of visa, it won't allow it and default back to an O-A visa application
Robert *******
With you can not make changes, does this mean you can not switch from one visa application to another type of visa during your application? Is it like the program is built as you choose the visa you want and fill in the details needed for this visa and all goes well till the end?
Robert *******
Lot of options are given by
@R**
on how to get it all done. But it would be nice if one of you could tell us if it really worked out? Did clear and delete pending folder helped you to make a complete application? Was the software of your keyboard (location of the @) the problem? Or is it still a problem?

The passport pic and pic profile are to be lees than 0.5Mb and when i take a pic with my phone and try to use they are too big. I guess if i scan and use a scanned copy it will be a lot smaller and will work hopefully.. any comments folks? :)

Try using another browser. Might help.

May I ask what option to choose for retirement (O-A)? Is it the one that says something about 90 days? Sorry about being a bit vague. I looked very briefly, got a little confused and have been busy with some urgent stuff.

@Brian *****
Thanks. Have a lovely wkend!

@Bell ******
you have to go to immigration every 90 days you are in Thailand. If you go out and in again the 90 days count again.

This is for every possibility you can stay longer as 90 days at once in Thailand.

O-A is a one year visa and the O-X is a 10 year visa, Two totally different requirements

Yes I'm having trouble with ghis as well, as soon as i get to i think it's section 2, i select my purpose of stay ( long term based on over 50) it then suggests the nin immigrant OA visa, the next box is to select single or multiple entry, as soon as i click on the drop down box i see that single and multiple entry are both already ticked, i try to unselect the single entry but it remains ticked, i then get a message saying wrong type of visa selected and i cannot proceed any further. I was going to call the embassy on Monday
Brian ******
ORIGINAL POSTER
use google chromium if you still have trouble.. it works for me
Danny **********
@Ron ******
ok thanks ron i will give it a try
Ron *******
If your getting a single or multiple choice selection when applying for 'Long Stay' you have files sitting in the pending application folder. You MUST clear and delete them first and then apply

Darren ********
having similar problem with not excepting @ for email was told its common using a tablet and to try laptop or desktop computer
Brian ******
ORIGINAL POSTER
thanks Danny, i might do the same mate
Ron *******
Exactly what problem are you experiencing? They are mostly simple selections and attachments.

And no, there isn't any other option other than the E Visa application if you want to apply for an O-A visa in the UK
Ray ********
@Brian *****
a few years back I purchased a Dell Laptop in Thailand, obviously with a Thai keyboard. I had the same problem in that I couldn't find the '@' key.

I found it by pressing each key and looking what showed up on the screen. I hope that helps you.
James ********
Try shift and "

Sometimes the @ and the " are swapped
Brian ******
ORIGINAL POSTER
thanks Ron! u have given me some hope :)
Ron *******
The @ your having a problem with is a software comparability issue on your keyboard. There is another keystroke you can use in place of @ but I cannot remember what it is. You will need to Google it
Ron *******
@Brian *****
what happens is each time you try an application, it will store in pending applications BUT it will stop you choosing another option and will default to the previous application. If you either don't recover the application from the folder and carry on or delete it, it won't allow you to choose other selections.

It's a pain but once you've cleared everything, it should be fine
Brian ******
ORIGINAL POSTER
i will thanks. I think you get 1 try to complete this application online and if you dont you gotta restart from the beginning again..
Ron *******
@Brian *****
try going in pending applications and see what you have. I think you have something sitting in there. Clear it all and retry.
