TLDR : Answer Summary
If you arrive in Bangkok on a visa exempt entry, you can extend your stay for an additional 30 days at an immigration office, specifically at IT Square Laksi Plaza, for a fee of 1900 baht. You can do this only once. Alternatively, to stay longer than 3 months, you might consider applying for a Standard Tourist Visa (SETV) through the Thai embassy in London, as in-person applications are no longer accepted.

Ok thanks for the responses.

Ideally we want 3 months so I guess I would have to contact the Thai embassy here in London.

I will check if a 3 month visa can be obtained online.

, Thai embassy in London is on eVisa system they don't accept the application in person anymore. Go to the website and apply for SETV. London is known for faster issuance of tourist visas than others, usually in a few days once you upload the right documents completely.

You can extend it once for 30 days at a cost of 1900 baht at most local immigration offices, the process is pretty easy but around Thai holidays it can be super busy etc.

You are visa exempt…30 day stay. Can extend it another 30 day at immigration for a small fee or do a land crossing to a neighboring Cambodia (Laos requires a visa) and stamp back in for another 30 days

Once only. In Bangkok on a visa exempt entry that you have - not a tourist visa - you go to IT Square, Laksi Plaza to extend. You’ll get an extra 30 days added to your current entry stamp.

This is the hand out of what is generally required to get an extension based on tourism

If you showed up here without having bought a visa from a thai consulate before you winged your way here and were stamped in FREE for 30 days you got in on what's called a 'visa exempt entry' <- it's not a tourist visa, not a visa at all, just a free entry stamp

You can extend that once for 30 days for 1900baht.

In bangkok you go to the 3rd floor immigration office out at IT Square Laksi Plaza. (there are photo/copy shops next to immigrations).

This is where you go

you can go any time you want to get the extension you do not lose any days going early they add the 30 days to your current stamp
